Delores GOG

Jun 03, 2020

Given everything going on the America right now, I don't feel like a celebratory post about a game. So I'll do a factual one: Delores is now on GOG.

If I hear one more person say "this is not who we are" I'll scream. This may not be who we want to be, but it is exactly who we are.

I'd go with the Dell option: have used it for work (although not the latest one), and my colleagues are using it (latest version). It's a solid laptop, nice design, light, and has a really well done Ubuntu installation/integration. Those Dell laptops have become better and better over the years.

Milo Casagrande May 11, 2020
Well... Wrong post for that comment... My bad, sorry.

Iron Curtain May 11, 2020
Yay! I'll get the word out!

Hi Ron, will there eventually be a Linux version too?

Ron Gilbert May 11, 2020
As the engine development progresses we will add Linux support, but I have no time-frame for that.

But i must keep holding those pitchforks to enforce social distancing.  Anyway thanks much much! Now just have to wait for the Linux version or get it somehow to run on Wind8.

It's fantastic, I loved it! Great timing as well lol. Thanks a lot for the time and effort :)

Hi Ron. I've been a long time massive fan of Monkey Island like any other respectable person. I have been under a rock and only just heard about Thimbleweed Park. Does Delores contain spoilers for the first game? I'd been keen on playing it first if not. Thank you!

Iron Curtain May 11, 2020
@Joel: Having played both Thimbleweed Park and Delores, I highly recommend you play Thimbleweed Park first, as finishing Thimbleweed Park will help you understand Delores.

Iron Curtain May 11, 2020
@Joel: To put it another way, think of Thimbleweed Park as Monkey Island 2 and Delores as Monkey Island 3 if Ron Gilbert had not left LucasArts and decided to make a third game.

Thank you for bringing Delores to GOG!

DerBesserwisser May 12, 2020
Thanks for having mercy upon us goggers!

Fuz May 12, 2020
This is wonderful.

Thanks a lot again, Ron.

I still can't people were complaining about having to install Steam. Gee, it's free and you never have to buy anything again. Nice to see it on GoG but really... people are being picky.

Speaking of free... Delores (the game) was great fun! The game was actually even MORE fun after the first 5 photographs. Once I had momentum, I found it quite enjoyable to look at the 'to-do' list and have an idea of what I could try.

There's only ONE challenge that got to me. (No spoilers but it involved taking a picture of a demolition. That really wasn't obvious to me ;o )Still, I finished all 30 yesterday and it was a great experience. A+

It must have taken a lot of time to make this so thank you very much. I appreciate it!

I understand why it was free but honestly, I think with proper saving, the "pay what you want" model would have worked really well here. I would have gladly paid for it.

Perhaps Delores can be a playable mini-game within a future full-length game ;)

Thanks Ron

just found thimbleweed park a few days ago. so happy to be back at all this. monkey island was my favorite game and monkey island 2 the first game I ever bought. I laid out the 11 disks (I think it was 11) on my Amiga 500 which I think caused it to overheat at one point. hey can I still claim money back for that? So happy to see that the adventure game is back, rising again, better and stronger than ever! thank you for all of it!

Alex May 13, 2020
Thank You for all your games!

Nor Treblig May 14, 2020
In case GOG doesn't accept it or take their time for whatever reasons:
You could always add the game as bonus content to TWP itself (it's meant to be played after TWP anyway what I have heard).
(But of course this wouldn't allow free access.)

longuist May 15, 2020
I guess, as its a complete engine rewrite, its not worth the hassle.

Alex May 16, 2020
Dear Ron Gilbert, is there any chance you could implement Thimbleweed Park's achievements on GOG as well? Thanks!

Iron Curtain May 20, 2020
Delores is *still* not on GOG. While I know these things take time and I believe Ron did upload the game, I'm not impressed with how long it's taking. Do you know what could be the holdup?

Ron Gilbert May 20, 2020
There were some complications. I am in contact with them now about resolving them upload issues.

Michael May 26, 2020
Thanks a lot for this mini-game! I just wanted to check if the GOG release is still planned despite encountered issues?

Ron Gilbert May 26, 2020
Yes, it is still planned. GOG delayed it for a few days.

Michael May 26, 2020
Super:) I will be waiting then; thank you!

Didz May 27, 2020
Hi Ron,

Thank you for  bringing Dolores on GOG :)
By any chance, is it planned to update the GOG version of Thimbleweed Park with GOG achievements and cloud save support ?

Thanks in advance and keep up the good work!

Delores is finally on GOG! Yippee Skippee!

(Ron: As an aside I give you full permission to use "Yippee Skippee" as a catchphrase in an upcoming game of yours)

Crichtob Jun 03, 2020
Yay, Delores on GOG!
Thank you Ron!
