Monkey Art
Feb 8, 2007 ten to eight am

Steve Purcell's painting of the back cover of the Monkey Island 2 box sold for $4,550 last night on eBay. I can only hope it was purchased by some wealthy aristocrat who is also a huge Monkey Island fan and their next step is to contact me about financing my RPG/Adventure project. I'll hang by the phone for the rest of the day...just in case.

Was it 4435? or 4453?.... I simply don't know...
Anyway, I guess I'm not a Monkey Island fan.... I'm just another Steve Purcell's back covers fan.

Ron: There's quite a big difference from the innocent charm of the first MI game to the cynical, bitter tone of the second one. Was the tone of the second game a reaction to the pressures from LucasArts to do go back and do "the same", but this time make it "bigger and better"?

But...I am looking forward to seeing this rumored game for the Wii, which will probably be developed by some other company and only published by LucasArts (which is probably best anyway, all the good Star Wars games aren't even develped by LucasArts).
Sorry, rant over.

This is a sad day for gaming (although a great day for Steve Purcell, haha - I love that guy).

Word is that Apple are (again) looking to bring games to the Mac platform. Maybe they're serious this time, maybe they're not. Either way, I'd love to see them invest in something a little different from someone like Ron.
Apple are always keen to promote themselves as 'innovative'. I'd love to see them get together with Ron and try something really new...

Idea N°1 = sell shares of your future company on e-bay at $20 each
Idea N°2 = pre-sell copies of your game two years before actual publishing
Idea N°3 = make your game open source and use people from this community to make it.
Well, that might sound stupid, but it is better than selling homemade lemonade on your frontyard...
Hell, I think I am tired...

#1 pretty awesome
#2 co-leader/designer Larry Ahern worked on MI2 :)
Also GOOOO GAMECOCK! Although they should go for something less risky, too.
